This position is the third level of management in large organizations with regard to the complexity of operations. It is also appropriate for top or middle manager positions in smaller organizations. This is the first level of management who are full-time managers and do not perform the work of the group or function they manage. They carry out established policies and procedures; with the majority of their time invested in directing the activities of others and/or managing their function. Smaller department managers and individuals who manage a function rather than employees are positions in this management group.
